Our Prayer Requests

Our Pastor at our home church often reminds the church of this truth: "Prayer can do anything God can do." If I really took that to heart and believed it fully, it would not only change HOW I prayed but how OFTEN I prayed!

We believe prayer to the One True God works in ways that nothing else does. So we list our prayer requests each month and ask you to pray for one or all of them, expecting the Lord to answer! Thanks, in advance, for your prayers for us and for the couples the Lord is bringing!

Listen to my words, Lord, consider my lament. Hear my cry for help, my King and my God, for to You I pray. In the morning, Lord, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before You and wait expectantly. Psalm 5:1-3

LET THE FAVOR OF THE LORD GOD BE UPON US: Please pray for us, that we would be truly humble, contrite, and would be rightly responding to His Word, empowered by His Spirit. And by His great grace, Abiding Marriage would have the favor of the Lord in 2023 and beyond!

GROWING OUR REACH: In our mission to help couples connect with Christ and each other, we want to reach more couples through our podcast and blog posts. Pray for the Lord to open up opportunities for our content to impact more couples to help them have Christ-centered marriages!

FAMILY: Please pray for our "kids": Josh and his wife, Annie; Caleb and his wife, Taylor; and for our daughter Sarah and the young man she is currently dating. Pray that we would have the joy of seeing our kids and their spouses walking wholeheartedly with God.

CONTINUED PRAYER FOR THE WORK OF OUR HANDS: Please continue to pray that God would establish the work He is doing through Abiding Marriage, and that His Name and Kingdom would spread as a result. Please also continue to pray this for our personal lives/family as well - that we would walk faithfully in the good works He has prepared and that the work would glorify Him and bear lasting fruit.

PRAYER FOR COUPLES: A Ministry Partner recently texted us this prayer. We wanted to pass it along so you could pray it as well: "Praying for your many couples to receive resurrection in their marriages at such a rapid rate only the Lord could be the Source."

YEAR TWO OF THE PODCAST: We will soon begin recording our second year of the Abiding Marriage Podcast. Please pray for God's discernment for Shawn and I as we plan, prepare, and record these podcast episodes - that the topics we share about will be God's provision and help for those husbands and wives listening.

WISDOM FOR MINISTRY DECISIONS: Please pray for God to give Shawn and I, and our Board of Directors, His supernatural wisdom in all the decisions, small and large, related to Abiding Marriage.

Please also for our aging parents on both sides - for their health and for life transitions they are making.

GLEN’S HEALTH UPDATE: We are thankful the levels of heavy metals are coming down. Please pray the process will completely rid his body of these metals and they will not return.

OUR PODCAST: For 2023, we are asking God to “broaden the number of couples” who are regularly listening to our podcast. This is not for ourselves, but because we believe the content will truly help couples grow in their connection with Christ and their spouse. So you can help by 1) listening yourself, and 2) sharing the podcast with other couples you now!

SATISFY US: Please pray that Shawn and I would be spending time daily with the Lord and His Word. And through our growing with Him, we would be deeply satisfied and rejoicing in Him, whether in plenty or in need.

MAKE US GLAD: Please pray for the two of us, that we would be people that live out of heartfelt gratitude to the Lord for His great mercy, grace, and peace in our lives. And that, no matter our situation or circumstance, we would find great security and comfort knowing that the Lord is with us every step of the way!

TREASURING CHRIST THIS CHRISTMAS: Please pray fervently that Glen and Shawn and our family would be people who truly treasure the "Greatest Gift" ever given, Immanuel - God with us! Pray that our time together as a family would honor Him and grow our connection to Him and to each other.

CALEB AND TAYLOR: Please pray for our youngest son, Caleb, and his wife, Taylor as they celebrate their 1st anniversary on December 19th. Pray they will be growing BOTH in their connection with the Lord vertically and their horizontal connection with each other!

GIVING THANKS: Please pray that Glen and Shawn and our family would be people who are truly grateful and consistently giving thanks to the Lord, the One who provides for our every need! Pray also that our adult kids and their spouses would also be saturated in thankfulness to the Lord.

LATEST ON GLEN'S HEALTH: Glen just passed the 4-month mark in the chelation process and just completed a test to see where his levels are. Please pray that we would see his levels decreasing, and that God will continue to work in the chelation process to bring them all into the normal range very soon!

MINISTRY FOCUS AND PRIORITY: Please continue to pray for both Glen and Shawn - that with everything we have on our plates, that we would prioritize working on the things God directs us to do, and leave the other things as lesser priorities.

OUR PODCAST: Please pray for three simple things: 1) For God to allow the podcast to reach exactly the couples He wants, whatever that number is. 2) Pray for God to give us His direction for the content of future podcasts, as well as the energy and time needed to produce and release them twice a month. 3) For the equipment we use at our church to continue working well and technical issues to be minimal going forward.

GLEN’S HEALTH: As we shared previously, for the treatments Glen is receiving to rid his body of the heavy metals and their effects.

OUR PODCAST: As we had shared previously, please pray for three simple things: 1) For God to allow the podcast to reach exactly the couples He wants, whether that is hundreds or many thousands! 2) Pray for God to give us His leading and direction for the topics/content of future podcasts as well as the energy and time to plan, record, and release them two times a month. 3) For the equipment we use at our church to continue working well and for some technical audio issues to get resolved.

MINISTRY FOCUS and PRIORITY: Please continue to pray for both Glen and Shawn - that with all the things we can do each day, that we would prioritize working on the things God directs us to do, and leave the other things as lesser priorities.

UPDATE ON GLEN'S HEALTH: We had shared back in mid-June about Glen's high levels of heavy metals. We are thankful he has completed 2 months of the detoxing process and began the 3rd month on a new agent that works on the lead. Pray the Lord would use this treatment to rid Glen's body of the lead and other heavy metals and have minimal side effects as well.

August 2022

PRAISING THE LORD: Please praise the Lord with us! As of August 1, 2022, we are celebrating the first full year of Abiding Marriage! We are thanking Him for the transformation that He is bringing in husbands and wives as well as for His provision for the ministry through our generous Ministry Partner Team!

REACHING COUPLES LOCALLY: A couple of months ago we asked you to pray for the Lord to give Abiding Marriage favor when it comes to couples in Central Arkansas searching the internet for marriage help. We are so very thankful that, with the help of a Google Expert we hired, we are seeing a great upsurge in couples contacting us. Keep praying the Lord will bring the right couples to our ministry!

MINISTRY FOCUS: Please pray for both Glen and Shawn - that with all the things we CAN do, that we would prioritize working on the things God DIRECTS US to do, and leave the other things as lesser priorities.

July 2022

GOD'S WISDOM: Please pray for the Lord's wisdom and discernment as we meet with couples. We are not able to rightly discern and help them without God's help. Pray for the Spirit of God to be speaking to us and to the couples we are counseling.

UPDATE ON REACHING YOUNG MARRIEDS: We are excited as we get closer to releasing a new way of reaching young married couples: A podcast Shawn and I are working on that we are expectant of the Lord using to reach couples. Please continue to pray for us in all the logistics and details involved. Our updated plan has us sharing this podcast publicly in September of this year.

GLEN'S HEALTH: As we shared in a special email last month, Glen is in the midst of a process called chelation that we pray will help rid his body of some heavy metal toxicity. He is doing well so far, so we want to thank the Lord and also ask for your continued prayers!

Special Prayer Request: Thursday, June 16th, 2022

We had shared via email a special prayer request for Glen related to his heavy metal poisoning and the start of the chelation process. Here are the specific prayer requests. Thanks, in advance, for our prayers!

Pray for the first stage of the process, chelating the mercury and thallium. For the Lord to sovereignly allow this stage to be successful in 1-2 months, and that Glen would experience no serious side effects during this stage.

Pray for the second and longer stage, chelating the lead. For the Lord to work to rid Glen’s body of the lead in less than the expected 3-6 months.

Pray for supernatural discernment and wisdom for Dr. Beard and her staff. That they would be led by the Lord in this process. Both Dr. Beard and the other staff member we are working with are Christ-followers.

Finally, pray that Glen and I will be able to truly “give thanks in all circumstances” during this process. We are expectant of the Lord continuing to provide the needed help to detox Glen’s body from these heavy metals. We know the process will likely have its ups and downs, but we are confident that it will be worth getting Glen’s body healthier!
