Our Prayer Requests

Our Pastor at our home church often reminds the church of this truth: "Prayer can do anything God can do." If I really took that to heart and believed it fully, it would not only change HOW I prayed but how OFTEN I prayed!

We believe prayer to the One True God works in ways that nothing else does. So we list our prayer requests each month and ask you to pray for one or all of them, expecting the Lord to answer! Thanks, in advance, for your prayers for us and for the couples the Lord is bringing!

Listen to my words, Lord, consider my lament. Hear my cry for help, my King and my God, for to You I pray. In the morning, Lord, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before You and wait expectantly. Psalm 5:1-3

FOCUS FOR 2026: That God would use Abiding Marriage, through the work of the Holy Spirit, to affect the lives of couples toward Christ.

FIRST GRANDCHILD: On December 18, 2025, the next generation of our Arkansas family was started with the birth of our granddaughter, Ariya Grae Solberg, to our oldest son, Josh, and his bride, Annie. We give thanks to the Lord for the gift of Ariya and ask you to pray for Josh and Annie as they begin the wonderful and challenging walk as parents! Both Mom, Dad, and baby are doing well, by God's grace!

BUSY JANUARY: Please pray an extra prayer for Glen and Shawn as each January is a super busy time for them in ministry - lots of counseling as couples get re-started, and also a ton of administrative work that is required as we begin a New Year. Thanks for those prayers in advance!

FIRST LOVE AND COMMUNITY: This is our consistent prayer: That we would never lose our "first love" for Jesus Christ and the pursuit of a deeply abiding relationship with Him. And after that, we would continue to make it a priority to be deeply connected to Christ-centered community in and outside of our local church.

FOCUS FOR 2025 (As shared in previous months): Pray for our preparation in prayer before each session. That we would be consistently and fervently praying for the Spirit to fill and control us. Pray for the leading of the Holy Spirt in sessions - to lead us to truth and Scripture that helps couples grow in humility and Christ-likeness. Pray for the Spirit to move us to share the fundamental need for the Gospel more boldly, to non-Christians for salvation, and for Christians for growth in sanctification. Pray against the attacks of the enemy as we expect more spiritual battle for these couples and for the two of us.

GOD'S GOODNESS: In the midst of all the things that we pray for in our lives, we want to make sure we never forget to pause and remember that all we have and all that we are promised is from the Lord. Thank You for Your Goodness, Lord, that is so abundantly manifested in our lives in both hard times as well as good times.

FOR OUR FAMILY: Please pray for Josh and Annie as Annie is now 37 weeks along and our granddaughter is getting closer to making her appearance - her due date is December 31st. Pray for Caleb and Taylor as they celebrate their 4th wedding anniversary on Dec. 19th. And pray for the newlyweds, Evan and Sarah, as they continue to grow in becoming the husband and wife God created them to be.

GIVING THANKS: This month, on the 28th, Shawn and Glen will celebrate their 33rd wedding anniversary! Thanking the Lord for His great grace that has sustained us for those many years. And thankful to many of you who have prayed for us over those years. God's grace, faithfulness, and steadfast love are the foundation of our covenant relationship!

FOR OUR FAMILY: Pray for the newlyweds, Evan and Sarah, as they continue to grow in becoming the husband and wife God created them to be. Pray for Caleb and Taylor and a very busy month of November for them. And pray for Josh and Annie as Annie is now 32 weeks along and our granddaughter is getting closer to making her appearance - her due date is December 31st.

GROWING CHRISTLIKENESS: Please pray that all the couples God brings to Abiding Marriage will truly grow in becoming more like Christ and in more and more consistently displaying that Christlikeness in their marriage!

GIVING THANKS: We had asked for prayer for a family gathering we had in late September. We and our adult kids and their spouses had a great time together. Thanks so much for praying!

FOR SARAH AND EVAN: We thank you for your continued prayers for Sarah and her husband-to-be, Evan, as they move closer to their marriage celebration on October 10th. Please pray that both of them, empowered by the Holy Spirit, to make it their primary goal to glorify the Lord in fulfilling their God-ordained roles in marriage. Pray for the Lord to use their marriage to mature them more into the image of Jesus Christ.

FOR TIME AWAY TOGETHER IN SEPTEMBER: Please join us in giving thanks for some long-awaited time together with our kids and their spouses September 19-21. Please pray that the Lord would help us all to truly love one another deeply from the heart. And please also pray against the enemy's fiery darts that aim to cause division and conflict. Thank you for your prayers!

FAMILY CELEBRATIONS: Please pray for our family this month as we celebrate Josh and Annie's third wedding anniversary as well as our daughter-in-law Taylor's birthday.

EASTER/RESURRECTION SUNDAY: Please pray with us that Easter weekend will be a great time in many churches of seeing men and women, boys and girls, come into a real relationship with Jesus. As the Gospel is proclaimed, that people would be cut to the heart and turn in faith and repentance to Jesus as their Lord and their Savior!

PREMARITAL COUPLES: Please pray with us that each of these premarital couples will take this time of preparation seriously, and do the work to lay that vital Christ-centered foundation!

TRAVEL IN LATE APRIL/EARLY MAY: Please pray for Shawn and I for safe travel to a Biblical Counseling Conference later this month. Pray that our time there would be a time of further learning and also a real time of refreshment in the Lord!
